On 8-9 April 2016, CTF Solar CEO Dr. Michael Harr accompanied Germany’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier on an official visit to the People’s Republic of China as a member of a 15-person economic delegation. The group attended talks in Beijing and visited Changsha, the capital of Hunan province.

In Beijing, the business representatives from Germany were informed of the planned reorganisation of Chinese state-owned enterprises by government officials and discussed the implementation of economic cooperation between the two countries. At an opening ceremony for an exhibition on Germany’s energy transition at Peking University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), bilateral contracts were signed between German and Chinese enterprises in the energy sector.

Dr. Michael Harr and Professor Yin Xinjian, Vice Director of the New Energy Department of CTIEC, also signed a contract concerning the new CdTe solar module factory in Chengdu which uses technology developed in Germany by CTF Solar. Engineering for the production equipment and the construction of the factory will be completed by CTF Solar, with key production systems coming from Germany. The contract is valued € 3 million. CTF Solar and its shareholder CTIEC intend to sign the first supplier contracts for the Chengdu CdTe module factory in May 2016 at the SNEC in Shanghai.
